Wen Luo

Wen Luo joined the Space Structure Lab in 2020. He is focusing on buckling of ultra-thin composite structures. Research interests include composite materials, stability of structures, fracture and size effect, and structure reliability.

Wen completed his Ph.D. in the Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (TAM) at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. His research was modeling the failure risk of hierarchical and architected materials, also called “fishnet statistics”. It offers a quantitative explanation on how the microscale connectivity of the material plays a determining role in its failure probability lower tail, guiding the design of robust and reliable architected materials.
